              Importance of Guru 

A Pandit used to narrate to the queen daily. At the end of the story, everyone would say, 'If Ram says, the bond is broken'. Then the parrot in the cage would say, 'Don't tell me, Pandit liar'. Pandit was angry about what all these people would think, what the queen would think. The Pandit went to his Guru, told the Guru everything. The Guru went to the parrot and asked why do you say that?

The parrot said- 'I used to fly in the open sky before. Once I sat in an ashram where all the saints and saints were speaking Rama-Rama-Rama, so I started speaking Rama-Rama. One day I was speaking Ram-Ram in the same ashram, when a saint caught me and locked me in a cage, then taught me one or two verses. At the ashram, Seth bought me some money by giving it to the saint. Now Seth placed me in a silver cage, my bond kept growing. There was no possibility of an exit. One day that Seth gifted me to the king to get his work done by the king, the king happily took me, because I used to speak Ram. If the queen was of the religious instinct, the king gave it to the queen. Now how can I say 'if you say Ram-Ram, break the bond'?

The parrot said to the guru, "You should tell me a tip so that my bond will be released." 

Guru said - today you sleep quietly, don't even move. The queen will think she is dead and will leave. So did happen. When the parrot did not speak after the story the next day, the saint breathed a sigh of comfort. The queen thought the parrot had read Gusum, probably died. The queen opened the cage, then the parrot came out of the cage and started flying in the sky and spoke * 'If the Guru meets, the bond is removed' *. 

Therefore, howsoever you read the scriptures, how many chants you do, but without the true Guru, the bondage is not left.
